Black lives matter. Black queer lives matter. Black trans lives matter.

As an LGBTQIA+ Asian and Pacific Islander organization, Prism Foundation stands against the racism, anti-blackness, and violence conducted against the Black community. And we call upon our LGBTQIA+ and API communities and our intersections to join us in staunch opposition to the injustices that have persisted since our country’s inception.

As Asian and Pacific Islanders, we must recognize and leverage our privileges to amplify and hold space in solidarity with Black voices, and we must further examine the unspoken anti-blackness plaguing our communities. It is our duty as fellow POCs to remain vigilant and visible, to educate ourselves and others, and to use our resources to support other communities in need. As LGBTQIA+ individuals, we must stand with queer and trans Black folx who continue to face marginalization not only within their Black community but in our queer spaces as well.

As individuals, we must do our part to speak out and show up in the days, months, and years moving forward. We as individuals must have impactful conversations within our own communities, homes, and with those closest to us as we not only denounce anti-blackness but also galvanize a collective effort to educate and act as better allies to the Black community.
